My process is to paste text into the facing pages of an InDesign file just to get a feel of the scope of design. I then create columns that work best with the amount of text within a spread. I read the articles and search the web for legally usable and theme-appropriate imagery before further tweaking my layouts. Fonts are often determined by the brand I'm working for and repeat from one page to the next for continuity, but image choices also lend themselves to color and display font decisions.
