Postcards announcing events are designs I've frequently made for freelance clients and while working in-house for a retailer.

SMU has asked me to recreate lost files and to also start from scratch; they are always pleasantly surprised with my improvements to old designs. 

Much like a newsletter my process is to set up the InDesign file and place all the provided assets on the page(s) to visualize what I'm working with. I like to search Pinterest and design sites for inspiration, as well as my personal collection of mailers. I then work with brand fonts and colors and tie in appropriate imagery. I may or may not sketch these layouts before hand. When there is almost an impossible amount of text it will likely help my brainstorming process.
